SPORT PILOT REQUIREMENTS FOR WEIGHT-SHIFT-CONTROL
Sport pilots
- Must be 17 to test for a sport pilot certificate
- Must be able to read, write, and understand English
- Must hold a current airman medical certificate or a current and valid U.S. Drivers license as evidence of medical eligibility
- Must pass a FAA sport pilot knowledge written test
- Must pass a FAA sport pilot practical flight test
- Must complete a minimum of 20 hours of training
Restrictions
- No flights into Class B, C, D airspace unless you have recieved training and obtained a logbook endorsement
- No flights outside the United States without advance permission from the foreign country
- No sightseeing flights with passengers for charity fund raisers
- No flights above 10,000 feet MSL
- Daytime flight only
- No flights when the surface visibility is less than 3 statute miles
- No flights unless you can see the surface of the earth for visual reference
- No flights while carrying a passenger or property for compensation or hire
